Minecraft sold to Microsoft
Microsoft announced today that it will acquire Mojang, the company responsible for creating Minecraft, for $2.5 billion.

The Mojang team will join Microsoft Studios, which includes the studios behind global blockbuster franchises “Halo,” “Forza,” “Fable” and more. Microsoft’s investments in cloud and mobile technologies will enable “Minecraft” players to benefit from richer and faster worlds, more powerful development tools, and more opportunities to connect across the “Minecraft” community.

According to Mojang’s website: “The founders: Notch, Carl, and Jakob are leaving. We don’t know what they’re planning. It won’t be Minecraft-related but it will probably be cool.”

Mojang says that Minecraft will continue to evolve, just like it has since the start of its development. Mojang doesn’t know the specific plans for Minecraft’s future but they do know that everyone involved wants the community to grow and become even more amazing than it’s ever been.
